Alarm & tracker:
Aftermarket alarm /immobiliser (thatcham approved) (laser line etc) Alarm relocated (LRDS) Thatcham approved tracker with RF or anti jamming abilities: tracker and automatics I can recommend Physical security (minimal modification): Door hinge guards (bombproof) Bonnet hinge guards (gore or equivalent) X eng steering column guard (LRDS) Security screws & pins Battery relocation loom Handbrake, battery and bonnet cable release guards can be fabricated out of steel U channel and welded to the relevant areas Relocate OBD2 port Locking cubby box Locking fuel cap Killswitch to fuel pump, starter motor (only if you have a gear on lock) or battery. (Funny story my mate has his wired through his horn and full beam) Physical security (aesthetic affecting modification): Mechlock clutch lock Door deadlocks X eng folding pedal lock Handbrake lock (only useful if you use my u channel modification to hand brake cable) Physical removable security Disklok or other thatcham approved steering lock (small type for most defenders) Clutchclaw or other pedal lock Gear stick lock Parking clamp etc Optimist QD steering wheel boss & lock Common sense Take this from a Romford boy who went to school with professional joyriders Set your key fob range to the shortest possible range of convenience. Before locking or unlocking look around for coding devices. Park in a garage or driveway and not on the street. Keep it out of view if at all possible If selling always ask meet at another location before heading to your home and ask for a drivers license before you do. Park in a manner that restricts access to your bonnet or rear door, your choice. Keep valuables out of sight or even better, out of your car at night. Get someone to block you in. Don’t park in poorly lit or deprived areas Have security at home, motion sensors, lights, cameras and gates. (Have a decent garage door too.) Keep your keys far away from entrance doors Get a dog or goose that hates strangers. If legal in your region keep a handgun (and please train with it) or breakers bar in the cubby box.
