+1 for the bonnet hinges. Mine were the same on the Puma. The little nylon inserts were the culprit. I didn’t even to buy new ones I just swapped them over and this cured it. Take the bonnet off and go for a spin and see if the noise goes.
Make sure you don’t lose the little nylon bits tho |

Have had tho in the past. Only happened over 50 mph or when going round roundabouts. Took me about 3 years to find it. Turned out the a lump of glass from a broken side window, down the front well of the dash, which flexed on roundabouts, and the bulkhead moved with wind pressure over 50. Run a screwdriver or bent bicycle spoke along the well, and see it anything flicks up, a screw maybe?

YES!
Fixed my squeak completely. Two contributing factors: centre screw fixing and radio cage. The dealership technician had refitted the centre topmost screw (the one my fingers were on in the vid) at an angle, missing the plastic lokut nut and giving a poor fixing. Also, they had evidently removed the radio as part of the warranty work, but did made a mess of refitting. The radio cage was loose, and the radio loose in the cage. Oh and the rubber for the locating peg was missing. So - removed radio, refitted cage securely, found a spare rubber for the rear locating peg. Refitted radio and made sure it was pushed all the way into the cage. Bingo 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW |

I cant imagine what its like to drive a Defender with no rattle - Its weird enough in my wifes corsa - almost too quiet for me now.. Only had my Defender since May, in the beginning all the knocks and bangs were worrying(coming from a pampered Audi with no noise at all) but I love all the noise it makes now! Regards
