I know Defenders are in short supply just now, so I thought I would post this in case it helps anyone (I have no connection with the company involved).
Morrisons LR in Stirling, Scotland. I was in there last night. They have a 110 Utility XS in Stornaway. It's a cancelled order - so it's immediately available... Didn't notice if it's been registered or not (would be a bargaining stance). If anyone sees a County in the same circumstances please let me know - I'm trying to cut a deal on a 110 County Utility...in Stornaway Gray! Mild interest in the XS, but I don't really want to pay for Air Con and other things I don't want/need...however if he had given me a 10% discount I may have bitten... |

I'm not in a rush. Plan was to sell my Discovery 2 privately when the prices rise again in Winter (last year all Landies had a healthy increase in 2nd hand values up here when the was 18 inches of snow ).
Then approach the dealer as a cash buyer. Most dealers are really keen to shift any showroom stock in March. The new registration is over, and financial year-end is looming (most dealers, and indeed companies in gerenal want a thin stock inventory for financial year-ends). Last time I played 2 dealers against each other for the last 2 weeks of March, I was a cash buyer, I saved 20%... |

If you are already a NFU member there shouldnt be a delay, when I bought my new D4, I rang up and it was faxed to me within half an hour.
When you join, you have to wait 3 months before the membership entitles you to the discount. Has it changed? BB 2019 MY Disco 5 HSE Lux Audi A4 Avant 3.0L TDI Quattro - WOW 2016 90 Adventure |

Still the same - got a call into them as we speak! I called them the other day, but I only have 0.6 Acres - not enough to be a full member apparently... |

I think you may be dissapointed - they just dont care any more...there have been some discussions on this recently. Yes March is the best time of year, but the volumes are such that they dont need to worry (yes there is some discount) but they are shifting in all sectors to the point that customers are plentiful its cars that arent!! Also its clear that a cash buyer is one of the worse buyers for a dealer!! they dont make any money from you unlike a finance buyer (even if you have the cash) so you may shoot yourself down there to. Anyway i dont know why im speaking up my discount is guaranteed and fixed Mike |

i guessed you can get someting off/thrown in yes - certainly if your not paying cash - but most dealers arent bothered/dont need to seems to be the theme at the moment
As our dealer said (when taking my defender in PX for the same as i bought it for) we wont have to do much with that it will sell itself! 3 weeks later it was sold! I know that They have a lack of stock due to a change in approach due to the recession that coupled with an a massive upturn in demand in all sectors (forigen) and huge UK demand and different margins now there just isnt the desire. I got a good enough deal though Mike |

Defender stock sells itself - very true. My dealer never has used Defenders on the forecourt for more than a day.
My deal was a cash one, not finance and I haggled as a repeat customer - was surprised how much I got though. John http://www.hampshire4x4response.co.uk 2011 Tdci 110 CSW XS |

I got some stuff thrown in with my april 110xs sw purchase but I would echo mse's comments , seams if you are buying defender or D4 they would rather wait for the guy who is 2 minutes behind you and willing to pay full price.
Freelander or Rangerover not so much , there seams to be a deal to be done there 2011 Defender XS 110 Station Wagon - Rejected 2008 Discovery 3 XS Auto (Gone) 1997 Discovery ES Auto 300TDI (Traded in on a flat bed) |

Apparently they cant keep up with freelander demand at the minute which is why its off the staff scheme.
FFRR's i think you can get some good deals - although thats something to do with the new one pending! Mike |
