Lubricate the bonnet hinges. A common noise that you would bet was coming from the dash area. Try them first.

Forgot to add, if that doesn't work check the bolts that hold the roof on especially the screws in the corners which have a habit of working loose.

Place a cat inside your dash, then a dog, then a duck etc. etc. E-I-E-I-O For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

I've got a pair! The sound cancelling is flipping amazing. So good, some pilots use the aviation version that has a mic! ... now.. imagine an intercom system in a defender |

Check the wiper motor is secure on it's bracket (Access via the speaker hole)
Check the engine ECU is tight in it's bracket, the bottom of it is just some foam wrapped around it and jammed into a slot, the foam wears then develops into a knocking. |

I would start with the basics and check all the dash fixings for tightness. The dash could be just loose and rubbing on the body.

I've got a similar problem ever since it went into the dealer last winter
I've released and tightened everything and it is still rubbing/squeaking in the middle. Massively irritating as it was genuinely squeak and rattle free before 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW |
