Sub Woofer connection
I've bought a used active Alpine SWD 1600 sub for my 110 Puma which arrived today, but I can't get a murmur from it! I think one or two of you have installed this in the past.
I have connected the yellow cable to the positive terminal on the battery, and have been looking for a suitable earth for the black cable. I have tried connecting the black cable to a bolt from the rear of the passenger seat frame, but I guess this is not good enough.
The twin rca cable from the sub goes to to the audio out of the Pioneer hidden unit which is also by the battery underneath the passenger seat, but I have not connected the blue cable to the remote turn on which is in the head unit, as I was anticipating getting the sub to power up before I had to remove the head unit to route the blue cable to it.
So, any ideas where I can get a good earth near the battery, and do I have to connect the blue cable before the unit will fire up?

i attached the earth wire to the front inner passenger seatbelt floor bolt - good connection, got a very strong reading on the voltmeter. BM52

Yep the blue "remote" must be connected also make sure the sub option is turn on and up on the head unit Thumbs Up

I have grounded here the power inverter (1000W) and had very bad results - it worked up to c.a. 150W and fried the fuse. Sub consumes less power, so it should be no problem I guess. Janusz

For a quick fix, you can piggyback the remote cable directly onto the + terminal of the sub.

It will power up and remain powered up, so only temp for testing or it'll flatten the battery.

Sorry if this is eggs being sucked, but the way it works is the amp will have a relay inside that switches on when power is recieved down the remote cable which essentially switches the main power onto the amp. Craig Rogers

As above i would try and go direct to the negative on the battery where possible. Only slight problem you may come across is afixing to the terminal itself. Good luck Thumbs Up
