I love that bike! Is that an early Adventure model? 2001-2002ish? Appears to have the same engine as the 2003 Rockster that I wish I still owned!!!!

I miss it. But couldn't afford to keep it and treat myself to a new RT as well.
Have you tried putting up for sale on the UKGSer forum? I'm sure there'd be interest. |

Unfortunately some people are put off that model year because of the Servo ABS which is a real shame.
Read any thread about buying or maintaining a GS of that vintage and many people (usually armchair experts) will say that the Servo ABS is unreliable, should be junked etc but in my experience that is just typical pub / internet hype and puts the unknowing off what is actually a very good bike. I had my 2003 GS (from new) for over 10-years and not in any of that time did the Servo ABS give me a moments trouble, I carried out the maintenance as prescribed (perhaps even more thoroughly as I changed the fluid in both the primary & secondary circuits every 12-months) and it was 100% reliable. When it came to selling I traded in against a Stelvio NTX, a couple of weeks later someone was asking on UkGSer if they should buy a 2003 model GS and just on the off chance I asked a couple of details and it turned out they were looking at my old bike. Several people (who didn't know me or the bike) said not to buy because of the "reputation" of the Servo ABS, I did explain the potential purchaser that I knew the bike inside out and that the brakes had never given any trouble but I don't know if he went through with the purchase or not. Shame if he didn't as it was a cracking bike and he was the one to miss out. ONE LIFE, GET IT! |
