I doubt they’ve come on for no reason. Afraid you’ll have to get it plugged in to assertain the reason.

When I say no reason the ABS is till operating even though the the lights go on. This is an intermittent fault.

Could be anything you need to get the codes read to narrow it down- if the light is staying on it’s stored something!

As above really. We can throw random guesses at you until we've listed every component in the ABS system if you want, one of them will be correct? Laughing

Fault codes make it a lot easier though. Wink

All you can do without that is make a general inspection for obvious faults. ie Damaged wiring, loose wheel bearings, low brake fluid. And even then you may repair something, say a wheel bearing with excessive play and still not cure the ABS fault.

Is the tracking ok on the front wheels? Front wheels free of play? These can cause wheels to rotate at different RPM which the sensors will pick up over distance and illuminate the ABS light.

Then it's just common sense, check the sensors are properly located fully down in their holes until the sensor shoulder is firmly home. Check connections etc.

You can also measure resistance across sensor terminals and compare the four sensors, see if one has a notably different reading compared with the other three.

If the problem persists your only option is to hook up to a diagnostic machine

Check wiring integrity, the solenoid is operating or if it’s shorted as the code says. You can download the wiring diagrams quite easily.

Lots of videos I’m sure on YouTube that will show you how to test an ABS solenoid Thumbs Up

Some problems with early Tdci valve blocks IIRC
