It is not unusual for the TDCi to suffer from leaks and failed gaskets at the joints either between the head and the manifold or between the manifold and the turbo, but it is fairly unusual though not unknown for the manifold itself to crack. Once cracked, it is exceptionally difficult to repair a cast iron manifold (not impossible but a very specialised repair) so replacement is usually the sensible option.
In the UK, my suggestion would be to go for a 2nd-hand manifold, unfortunately I don't know if the transit manifold is the same, I think it is, but cannot be certain. Defender manifolds are harder to find 2nd-hand since more often than not they cost £2k and come with a free engine. I would try to establish that the manifold really is cracked before replacing it it, it would be unfortunate to do that only to find it was actually a gasket leaking. |

I would not attempt repair, the cost over here and longevity of said repair questionable! As said trannie one probably is the way too go, however one from Uk either new or breaker maybe evan with fright maybe cheaper! I buy my filter kits cheaper from pomgolia! Bring on Brexit not Brino and we’ll sell you great Australian vin! Happy days!

Looks like it's Part # LR004489
About £300-£400 dependant on supplier... One on ebay... https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_odkw=ro...p;_sacat=0 I guess you'll also need all the gaskets etc so will probably increase the price quite a bit ACCORDING TO THE SUPPLIER WEBSITE IT'S THE SAME MANIFOLD AS THE TRANSIT... Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's) |

It's highly likely it's the same manifold as the Transit 2.4. The Turbo is in the same position on the transit so I don't see why it would be different.

It is just a part from a Ford Transit.
I tend to say the Ford number is 6C1Q-9430-CD. /Max |

Cool, thanks... I've managed to source a 2nd hand one locally, so I'll see how that goes for the moment... thanks all for your replies |

I suppose you could take the opportunity to polish the inside of it, it's not a sports car but it wont do any harm.
