Today I fitted some LED headlights, having resprayed the original cowlings. The driver side light was ropey, with intermitttent volts. I eventually worked out (via a strip of old wiring and relays) that the fuse box had corroded connections. All now replaced and redone.

Quick update for anyone interested.
Jobs done so far: Dash removed, holes filled and re-trimmed. Lower dash removed, holes filled and painted. Instrument pod (including metal case) replaced. Weird gauges removed and replaced with single clock - multi-instrument dash-top pod consigned to bin. New headlight switch fitted. DRLs wired up (the jury's out on them, but the 90 came with a DRL bumper). Wipac LEDs fitted. LED headlamps fitted. Dash indicator tell-tale replaced with Bolt On Bits LED one to stop all indicators coming on at once. Headlamp surrounds and grille re-sprayed. Rear X-member sprayed black (it was plain galvanised). Mud flaps fitted. Doors and bonnet removed. New doors currently being re-sprayed Keswick Green along with existing bonnet and wheel arches. Reversing light wired up (nothing was there other than the engine bay to rear lamp wire). MUD console fitted and wired up. Interior jetwashed ready for paint prep. Coil and plugs replaced - now running nicely. Next up - painting. Then steering box replacement. Then door re-build and re-fit. And roof re-fit. Then wheel refurb and tyre replacement. Then MoT! Then - maybe - steering wheel replacement Click image to enlarge |

i’d also like to replace the mats in both the front and the back. The back’s easy enough: it’s a 1985 Ninety hard top. The front’s more challenging. It is probably a 1985 footwell but the transmission tunnel suits an R380 with a V8. I know from previous experience that things are never quite the same when you put a V8 into what was previously a 10J engine. Does anyone have any advice about where to go for decent knowledge on replacement mats for non-standard vehicles? Sound deadening would be even better. I’m in Perthshire but would travel 200 miles for a quick and quality fitment.
Thanks. |

Unless you've physically altered the bulkhead, the floor mats are determined by the gearbox tunnel. If you've got an R380 'box tunnel, then R380 matts should be the ones to go for. As for sound proofing, there are lots of threads on here on the subject. Try a search for Silent Coat or Dynamat and you'll find lots of bedtime reading. Click image to enlarge Thanks - photo below. Nothing on it is original. Does that look like an R380 tunnel? Click image to enlarge |

Hmm, no, that looks like an LT77 tunnel. It appears to be the same as my old 90:
