Guy's,
Off up north to Elgin, NE Scotland in 6 weeks house hunting. Need to identify a good independent specialist to help me maintain Grover. The area we are looking in is as follows- Elgin and south to Tomintoul, East to Inverurie and North up to Banff. Any recommendations? , Kind regards, Simon |

Second for Mann Automotive at Laurencekirk - They do all my servicing and anything else I can't manage myself. They are next to train station so easy drop of and get train home. Though a bit far from Elgin!
I have also used with good experience Greenbank 4x4 in Tullos Aberdeen and Caldwell & Dempster in Banchory but not used for a few years now. There is an indie in Kemnay near Inverurie called Kirkstyle Garage and North East 4x4 in Stonehaven but no experience. Elgin main dealer used to have a reasonable reputation but not sure since becoming part of the Pentland Group. However Frank Ogg&Sons who originally were the Elgin main dealer still have second garage in Aberlour and website mentions land rover? Think there may be some others in Inverness. |

If Inverness does come into the picture, then I'd recommend Inverness 4x4 - Hamish and the guys have been looking after my Landys for probably over 20 years. Donald

Hmmm
I had a bad experience here - they did do the job, but I later found problems - could be I just had a bad experience and they;re actually OK. I used them to remove ACE from my Disco2, but the work was shabby. As I say - could be a one-off... I know it's a long way away, but Whites in Edinburgh have always been amazing for me...never let me down and always "go the extra mile" for customers... http://whitesautoservices.com/ I once broke the wheelnut locking tool, they came out and got me going...no charge!!! ^^^^^ Hi Martin, I can't challenge that obviously, I can only speak as I've found over the years. I know my LR ownership would have been a lot more difficult without them being in town. Donald

Agree donmacn - one bad day doesn't mean it's Winter. Maybe mine was a one-off... Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's)

Guy's thank you for the info/ recommendations. I will see where we end up buying and have a good look at the places you have all talked about.
It's good to have a good local place to go to if you have problems. The place I bought and take Grover to if he is poorly is only a few miles away (Tredown Land rover) and they have been great, over the last couple of years, since I bought him. I thought I might struggle to find a good Indy up in Scotland being a little more rural than where we currently live, but it appears that this is not the case. Looking forward to the drive up there when we do move!!. Once again many thanks. It goes to prove, once again, what a wealth of knowledge we have on this forum and how helpful you guy's all are. http://www.strathearnengineering.com/ I believe he's pretty popular in the LR Club "up North"... Maybe worth bookmarking http://www.slroc2.co.uk/ Forgot also about LENG LANDROVER and also the guys at LIX TOLL http://www.lixtoll.com/ Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's) |
