I must say that the OP did seem to be rather inadequately equipped in the, er, fuse department. I looked at his other contributions to the forum and they weren't much better.
I for one will not mourn his departure. |

Hmmm. OK - perhaps I was a bit quick to be arsey. But I do wonder to what extent people think about their posts before hitting the 'submit' button... but I also don't want to come across as a knob. Sorry if I have offended you, but FFS think about what you're typing. Tomorrow is all about trying to get the V8 firing again after 8 months without a battery.
I used to post a bit on the LRO forums (since 1999) and I've had four Defenders. Life has moved on since the days of Gresh and Haggis so perhaps I'm just a bit of a dinosaur. I've done engine and gearbox transfers but I don't really suffer fools gladly. I'm just glad that my 13 year old son wants to re-build a Ninety. |

Glad you’ve stuck around but you will find this forum has a much friendlier vibe than most out there, 99% of the time if a response looks odd it’s either auto correct or someone hasn’t understood what your trying to achieve/missed a post. In short, if you see an odd post try and ride it out with a smile Ray

Thanks folks - sorry all again.
We finished the dash re-cover in leather-look vinyl last weekend, with quite good results. Forgive the manky screws holding it in place; I had to raid the scrap bin. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge The next step is to sort the goosed electrics. New doors arrived today for spraying, along with the new rear door and new eyebrows. We're taking them to the bodyshop tomorrow. The V8 ran OK last weekend but took an age to start and ran vaguely sensibly until it got hot, when it started to mis-fire badly. I fitted a new Lucas coil tonight and that seems to have fixed it. It is a 3.9 Derek Allfrey/Edelbrock conversion but is not giving all it should. New spark plugs are on the way, and I will replace the HT leads with OEMs just in case. The ambition is to get it back on the road in the next 6 months or so. |

We've also fitted a new metal instrument pod surround and new instrument pod to make everything feel new again. The plan is to fit leather seats (either off-the-shelf or custom made at a company just down the road) and leather gaiters etc. We want it to feel like new inside.
I would like black wheels and a black roof but my son has more taste than me and wants a cream roof and boost alloys. |

Morning Shuggy110,
Good news that you stayed with us , Keep the build thread going as your doing a great job. Can I ask if you used the Rapture instrument pod and surround, or another make. I'm looking to do this to mine. Cheers, Simon |
