Mantec Tufflift and Wheel Carrier fitting
Hi,

I have a Mantec Tufflift (helps load spare wheel onto wheel carrier) and a Mantec wheel carrier (arrived today).

I have searched high and low for instructions on how to attach the Tufflift to the carrier. I asked in a previous thread (Anoraks build thread) and it was suggested that the wheel carrier would have holes to allow fitting. I cant see how it would fit.

See photos attached.

Any ideas gratefully received...Wink

cheers

simon

The ones I’ve seen have a metal plate on the ends of the straps of the tufflift to bolt into the holes under the the wheel bolts. Ray

^^^ thanks for the links. Not sure how I missed them... Embarassed

For anyone else looking at the second link, here's the page pointer http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic53350-240.html

Seems like I just need to make a couple of clamps to hold the straps on the Mantec carrier. Easy job.

Although I note that those that have used the Tufflift imply its not that brilliant...;-( I'll give it a go, nothing to lose.

cheers

Mine seems to work fine, and makes lifting the wheel back on much easier (it's heavy, 255/85 KM2 on Blindo, and much higher than standard).

Before the Tufflift putting the thing back on a serious effort. Now it is easy.

I've got 255/85s KM2s too, on Freestyles and I can barely lift it, let alone align the studs and fit the nuts. So I'm hoping the Tufflift helps...it cant be any worse..!

Are they still available now that Mantec have gone? Getting my spare on and off the Manted carrier manually is going to do for my back one day. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

I doubt it, I was given mine. There are exMOD versions (new/old stock) on eBay for around £100.

^^^ have you fitted them yet..?

Ive fitted mine and while it makes a difference getting the wheel up to the carrier, it isn't perfect by a long way.

But every little helps at my age..Wink

I just fitted it now. Seems to work ok. I set it so you have to lift the wheel a tiny amount to get it on the carrier. Only concern is the straps marking the front face of the wherk. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Mines pretty much the same, it needs a lift to get it onto the wheel studs, but at least it's 90% of the way there.

I don't think the straps on mine would do much, if any, damage to the face of the wheel. It'll be a lot less than a days laning anyway... Shocked

Cheers
