Woo hoo, I'm picking her up tomorrow, almost 10 months after I dropped her off! I can't wait to find out how she drives after the engine rebuild, rebore, new rad, injectors, pump, clutch, the odd wheel bearing....etc. I've got a decent run down to Devon coming up so that'll shake her down a bit.
Very excited in an unashamedly childlike way |

I believe the full-tilt Ninety was only offered to the UK civilian market in the (last 6 months) of 1984. When Roger Crathorne wanted his last of line Heritage in full-tilt configuration, that is what he was told (it was in Classic LR mag I believe). So he ordered "Cyprus spec" and got what he wanted! There should be enough ex-mil soft tops around to copy though? And there are publicity photos of the one-off diesel soft-top that I think was built for the 50th anniversary in '98. |

A friend of mine had a 1993 200Tdi full soft top 90, ordered new from (as it was then) TH Whites in Swindon.
90 was white, had cloth seats. Light stone coloured canvas, wind up windows, and a proper SD roll hoop (chassis mounted) behind the front seats. |

So, good and bad news....the good news is I’ve got her back and it all looks very neat and tidy under the bonnet and sounds ‘right’. The bad news is that it is marking its territory on the drive - a decent leak of clear slippery fluid which goes a bit sticky as it dries. The leak is front of the engine bay slightly to the left as you face the windscreen. I guess it is a hose fitting as all the hoses have been replaced. I wasn’t in the mood to investigate so stuck an old feed bucket with newspaper in the bottom under neath it. I’ll have a look on Friday and if needs be run it back up to the garage.
Still, good to have her back and as I said to Mrs H - she hadn’t met the P38 before so leak could just be a temper tantrum. |

Interesting. Are you sure it wasn't converted at the Dealers rather than come like that from the factory? |

All sorted, minor coolant leak. It is odd to start up and not be embarrassed by the puff / plume of smoke. The engine sounds lovely and will have a decent test tomorrow as I’m running the boat down to Devon. An early start and gentle trundle awaits!!
