It failed, but not for having the EGR deleted or cat, It failed on a few daft things. Which I may just let the tester sort out, as I do have a few spare parts. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back Success is 90% Inspiration and 4 minutes Preparation # you can make it! |

Sorry to hear that chap, not the end of the world. What were the silly things that failed it, things you had a feeling about or hidden things you didn't know about or weren't able to check ?. Get the issues addressed and go and enjoy it, it's still the same Defender and you have put so much effort into to turn it into what it is now.
Kind regards Simon |

laugh is its been new items! wheel bearings, an antiroll bar bush and flexi hose been twisted. ( the hose I am fine about as that thing can go bang like) and a dust cover from a ball joint, which bit the dust. Oh yeah and a light aim to high.
I may have the spare bush for the anti roll bar, so I may just get them to sort these out. With it been over there for the timing belt change. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back Success is 90% Inspiration and 4 minutes Preparation # you can make it! |

Mines a ‘94 300 tdi and has never had any problems. I am lucky to have a very ‘understanding’ tester though so I can’t see it being a problem......that is, as long as I replace the knackered turbo that’s kicking out plumes of smoke

yeah Id get the turbo sorted out, a strong chance it can fail on the smoke But have you cleaned out the OIL breather? just in case its clogged? My dads was, but he replaced it with an ALipsport unit. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

Yeah, it will probably all need a good clean out.....The turbo has a load of play in it, smokes more than I do and is gutless. Once I have my new turbo and it's back to running well I was considering an Allisport i/c and pump tweaks.
Has your dad been happy with his? Has he tweaked the pump or is he running it standard? |
