Unfortunately that dealer does not look like the parts store is manned by a chap in an oily warehouse coat with grubby hands who would say "Series one head gasket part no. so and so, there's a couple hanging up round the back"

That's progress Rolling with laughter

Hope you get it fixed soon.

Sorry to hear that Ian, you’re not having much luck with head gaskets!

Coils are my problem at the moment

: Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

You can have the flashiest dealership in the world, but they would never be able to fix it!

3 Head gaskets in 6 weeks on 3 different Land Rovers!
Surely that’s a record? Laughing

I had the hot coil problem a few months ago, I was running on an original 1950 Lucas, it would run all day until you stopped it.😡

We’ve Just been towed home, luckily we were only 10 miles from home. Thumbs Up 80" 80" 86" 88" 90"

You’ve got to laugh! Laughing
Although Bek didn’t find it very amusing, especially after the Anglesey trip.🤭

Should have the gasket tomorrow, so back on the road at the weekend Thumbs Up 80" 80" 86" 88" 90"

Could have kicked myself, schoolboy error... Rolling Eyes

I put it all back together, but it was really struggling to start?
Finally got it going, albeit very rough and only on no 1-2 cylinders, with 3 kicking in every now and then?
Nothing on 4?
I turned distributor 180 deg, thinking that was it?
Still the same, timed the distributor using flywheel marks, no 1 at TDC, still rough?
Checked points, condenser, plugs, HT leads, still the same?
Went through the fuel system, put a bit down the bores that weren’t firing, nothing? Evil or Very Mad

Getting rather annoyed now, i wondered if I had a leaking valve? So I did a compression test, all cylinders held at 120 psi

Then suddenly it dawned on me if the ignition leads are on the wrong way round?

swapped 3-4, it ran like a dream! Thud

Felt a bit stupid for a while.... Laughing 80" 80" 86" 88" 90"

Talking of feeling stupid, a friend of mine bought an ex-mil SIII full-tilt earlier this year, for some summer fun.

He soon broke down miles from home and after much fiddling and dismantling by the roadside, he couldn't get it to go.

So he gave up and rang another friend to come out and tow him home.

Eventually they got home and after more fiddling, the friend decides to turn the lever that switches the fuel supply from one of the twin tanks to the other one.

Started and ran like a dream!

He'd knocked the switch over to the empty tank with his heel..... Banging Head
