Metallic sounds when shutting off engine then pully failure
Is this a common problem?

I was getting a metallic sound when turning off the engine. Then three days later one of the pulleys seized and actually snapped the bolt. This caused the belt to come off. Luckily I had my mad man gauge and noticed the coolant temperature rising significantly. Turn off the engine and rolled The truck out of the woods and onto the road. Pics are below.

Yes that would be a failure which is not unheard of. Snapping the bolt is knida a new one on me though... good luck with the repair. 2010 Range Rover MkIII Autobiography Super Charged (Idris)

Yes quite common, although I’ve only ever seem to have done them on Discos, Rolling Eyes

Hope you get it sorted Thumbs Up

I must stop reading these threads. I just fitted my new drive belt as part of my annual self-service. It was actually the last item after all the fluids, filters and cleaning the sensors etc.

And now...

The automatic tension has just given up! Big Cry

I suspect that with me pulling it back to its full tension to fit the belt then it's thrown its hand in. Better on the drive than on the move Wink

Just ordered a genuine LR for reliability and longevity. Fingers crossed Thumbs Up
