the other advantage of this system is that it gives a "sealed" system so you do not get dust or more importantly water into the ducting during water crossings.
As foxhound has found, and certainly lots of Puma owners who run my system, the general agreement is that they get a power increase. Personally I have seen the improvement in both my 210MY 110 and now my 2013MY 130. In both cases though I had completely sealed systems running a SyKlone precleaner. I don't think many appreciate the efficiency loss of the standard systems which leak like a sieve. Pretty difficult for a snorkel to work efficiently if the ducting has gaps in it you could drive a Rangie thru  |

Latest fuel consumption figures are 30.92 MPG - the last tank was 1/3 of miles on short errands, 2/3 on a long run (mix of winding A roads and some dual carriageway)
Note I have the following ‘weight and drag’ fitted to my 110: 6mm steel military style bumper, military bull bar, mantec steering guard, safari equip sidestep/bars, 6 flatdog roof bars, Hannibal awning, NATO pintle/Dixon Bate bracket) 110 Defender 300tdi & Penman trailer with ally exped top and roof tent Last edited by foxhound on 22nd Jul 2018 9:21am. Afternote July 2018
Driving to Wales (A5, M6 and M40 –not exceeding 60mph) with 6 wolf boxes on the roof bars, 1 adult and 1 child passengers, and full internal load, I averaged just over 30mpg. On the return I drove the M6/M40 sections at 60-65mph and averaged a shade under 29mpg. (Before the new air system, driving over 60 would reduce mpg to around 26). After the Welsh trip, I switched the Donaldson Air Ram Head for a Donaldson Top Spin bought very cheaply on ebay.com. This provides improved dust pre-cleaning over the Donaldson air ram head (and reduces the height profile). This has made no increase in fuel consumption, if anything it is a shade lower and therefore a more effective head. 110 Defender 300tdi & Penman trailer with ally exped top and roof tent |
