I think part of the issue on the forum here is that this is such a common and well-discussed topic. A good and thorough search will find lots (and lots) of threads about this.

I think it's good advice to find a copy of the water ingress manual and go through that. Another part of the problem is that water leaks are just hard to trace because the stuff is so damn ....fluid! It comes in one place, and emerges somewhere else a relatively long way away.

But, in that area I'd consider:

the seals behind the windscreen/bulkhead connector blocks;
the foam strip between the windscreen frame and the bulkhead;
a roof leak that's allowing water to run down the A post;
water getting in where the door seal bends by the wing mirror...

I'm well-used to water leaks - but it's an older car. I sometimes found that where the water would emerge, or how much would come in, would depend on how the car was parked if there was a slope. Front up? rear up? one side higher than the other...?

But really, there's loads of stuff on here about leaks. Donald

water ingress and corrosion are well known issues.

my understanding is that the most comprehensive solution is Africa.

Thumbs Up good luck.

what about the gasket that sits under the plate that gives access to the clutch adjustment?

....that said if it's the accelerator I'd also go for the window blocks / windscreen foam strip.

not sure if anyone has done this but I've often thought a bead of silicone of silcafix (or whatever it's called) would be a better option to the foam strip?
