I struggle with the idea that jaguar make a 4x4 and now Land Rover make a car. Surely the point of the two brands is that one makes very nice cars the other makes the best 4x4 in the world. Why cross pollinate.

If I want a 4x4 and liked the JLR brand then I would buy one of the various great 4x4 they produce. If I want a luxury car and like the JLR brand then.....

Seems very odd to me.

The trouble is, the market doesn’t think like that any more. People choose whatever brand they think is cool first and then go and buy the product from that brand that suits their needs. If the brand doesn’t have what the customer wants they’ll move on to the next coolest one that does. So JLR are probably reasoning that there are saloon car buyers who think Land Rover/Range Rover is cool, but wouldn’t be caught dead in Jag. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS
