Nice Motor Thumbs Up Mr. Green

I’ve always fancied one myself, our neighbour had a white one when we were kids,
I loved that thing more than him Laughing

Thanks! Yep I’ve had her 14 years I think, just a few little interior bits to do and she’s ready to sell Big Cry ‘apparently ‘ we need -to finish the house, go on holiday, get the fun controller a new motor -rather than driving around occasionally in a 70s motoring icon and guaranteed future investment...
Trouble is going to goodwood I’ll want to keep her more !!

We are going but the 911 has to stay in the garage as I am taking the car trailer down to collect a nice little 80in, so leaving the trailer where the 80in resides then off to Goodwood for the 2 days then back to collect the 80 and then the 6 hours drive home Rolling Eyes

I haven't seen one in years! A fella up the road from me had one nearly 20 years ago in red. Looked well tidy for its age back then.
What are these like to own as a classic car? are the expensive for bits etc? Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

If you mean a Porsche Procta then yes most parts are quite expensive, you can’t really run one on a shoestring. I have had this one several years and bought before prices started to go up. Although the bodies (apart from the earlier 911’s) were made from zinc coated steel they can and do still rust in certain areas, sills , kidney bowls inner wings etc. If buying one you really need someone to look at it who knows them well. It took me around 3 years to find this particular one as I wanted something very original and not messed about with. With regards to costs of parts I recently replaced the exhaust and heat exchangers and that cost around £2.5K, a top end rebuild on an air cooled engine is around £3-3.5K for a good garage to do the job. They are fantastic cars to drive once you have learned their little foibles. I would love to be coming down to Goodwood in mine but I need to pick up this 80in on the way back.

I can't really contribute much (other than complimenting the OP on a cracking looking 911) but would put out there that Nick Moss of Early 911 is a font of knowledge and parts should you need at any stage.

He purchased my Father-in-Law's 911, giving us a very fair price for something that had been dragged out of a garage before going on to restore it to near concours condition for a pre-arranged buyer - lucky sod!

Nick used to have a step-by-step breakdown of the restoration on his website but this was a few years back and he doesn't have quite so much info on there now, but he's a good contact if you need...

Its a 1989 Ian with the torsion bar suspension, a real old school 911 Smile but with the (IMO) better G50 gearbox.

The 964 (911) which came out later in 89 had more modern suspension as did the last of the air cooled versions the 993, both nice versions of the 911 though.

Here she is -

Thanks Ian Thumbs Up A lot of folks think because you own a Porsche you have pots of money and obviously some do but I bought this at the right time and not for an investment but because when I was a lad I had a picture of a 911 on my bedroom wall and when I retired I figured if I don’t get one now I might never get one. Obviously totally different from Land Rovers but I appreciate all sorts of old cars and this is nice to take out for long drives in Summer.
