Fog Light Relay
Hi all, I always thought the fog light relay under the driver seat on my TDCi was to stop the fog light on the vehicle from activating when towing a trailer.

I've recently bought a trailer but the fog light still comes on along with the one on the trailer. Do I have a faulty relay or did I just imagine it was supposed to do this? Rolling Eyes Now: 2010 2.4 TDCi 110 Utility Wagon

The relay is to allow the use of a non-latching switch, and so the rear fog light only comes on when the lights are on and it'll switch off when you switch off the ignition.

Fog light (and reverse light) cut out is usually a feature of the towing kit, some car wiring kits have it some don't. I think the genuine wiring kit has a spare plug on it to allow this function to be wired up.

Of course! Doh! Whistle

Should have know that! My towing kit is genuine but obviously hasn't been wired in this way. Will take a look. For now it's not a major issue as I don't tend to use the fog light more than once a year anyway.

To be honest though if you're towing infrequently, you can just take the bulb out of the rear fog light. And put it back when you take the caravan off. Wink
