Replace both the plug and socket with male and female Hella or DIN connectors. They have a much more definite connection. Darren

Hella connectors;
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HELLA-POWER-DIN...rmvSB=true You could use a small Anderson connector (total overkill) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PAIR-X2-ANDERSO...rmvSB=true SAE Connectors; https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SAE-Plug-Connec...1910550824 There are also more specialist connectors, which have greater water resistance, but they're less standard so, you would have to have adaptors made up to connect anything else. |

I had exactly the same problem. I replaced the plug and socket for a decent sized anderson connector. No problems since. Cheers, Vincent

If you ran large battery cables through to the back, an Anderson connector does give you an extra location for jump starts etc.

I used a 'Magcode connector':
I think it's a german system, I purchased it at Landreiziger: https://shop.landreiziger.nl/componenten/connectoren/magcode.html Main reasons to choose for Magcode is that they make a 90 degree angle and sit relatively flush. The pro version is lockable and can handle 25A continuously. They're also quite shallow, giving more possibilities in locations to choose from. You see it from the back installed in the top of the rear corner cover here: Click image to enlarge They take no effort to connect. Not cheap though but worth it, I think it was 40 euro for a male/female pro set. Greetings, Joris |

Thanks for the responses everybody. I’ll research the links and recommendations and I’m sure I’ll have some more questions. 2002 110 td5

The Waeco 12v power lead is compatible with Hella sockets. That might fix the problem without cutting the plug off the lead, but you'll still need a Hella socket.
Remove the red part of the plug by turning it anti-clockwise then pull it off. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge |

My hella socket arrived today so I'm going to give that a go. It was only £9 so the cheapest and easiest option to try first.
Thanks all 2002 110 td5 |
