vcv and diesel knock
Hi , problem with diesel knock on my 2.4 puma, investigation found fuel pressure at idle to be 600 bar. Took out the vcv and inspected it, clean no issues, checked electrical operation to ensure solenoid ok, then refitted it. Downloaded the excellent Forscan beta for windows and with a cheap elm327 interface and ran fuel pump re-learn and then pilot correction on injectors. Fuel pressure desired and actual now spot on and great drivability, 230 bar at idle. Bought a new vcv from pf jones for £30 but no need to fit it now. Forscan is a brilliant tool for the diy guy. Thinks its a duratorq transit, but then it is.

I have to be honest for a first post this looks a lot like spam. Do you work for Forscan?

No, just someone who is happy to be able to execute4 service functions on my own defender without having to pay £50 for someone else to plug some a computer in. Was nearly ready to buy gap diagnostics but found forscan for free, if you have a range rover full if ecu's it would be a different story but a defender with only only a pc and diagnostics module , sorted.
