They do or did some door protector things - they looked something like a cheese grater and resembled the RPG protection on military vehicles. As I remember it was so expensive it would have been cheaper to just replace the doors if they got damaged.
Not really, some Swiss stuff is quite reasonably priced. Take watches for example, you can pay £4000 for a Tag Heuer or about a £1000 for a Ball made literally just around the corner. £1500 for a Quartz Tag Heuer with a £30 ETA movement in it or £300 for a Hamilton with an identical ETA movement. If you go for the lesser known brands, and contract manufacturing you can get them cheaper still. Genuine Swiss pocket knives can be had for less than a tenner. Hell I sent a 20 year old one back to the factory to have the scissors replaced a couple of years ago. They not only replaced the scissors, but about 3 other slightly bent or worn blades, then fully polished, lubricated and sharpened it. All it cost me was the postage to send it to Switzerland! |

On the contrary, you seem to be reading more into my comments than is there.
I have many close friends and colleagues that are Swiss, I work for a Swiss company and spent 18 months living and working there during the last 6 years. It is a country in which I feel very at home and comfortable. Nothing I have said is a criticism of the Swiss or Switzerland - i'm just speaking from my personal opinion, to which I am entitled. But no, I do not have a problem with the Swiss.... ... the Italians on the other hand |
