Really nice job Greeni.
Definitely a step up from this budget alternative I saw earlier. https://www.instagram.com/p/BkpCpbInpiA/ |

Hi Greeni, Great photos, thank you. I'm half way through, having tackled the 'behind the dash' phase. When the DC returns from it's malaise in Palma in two weeks time, I'll do the engine bay bits, so those photos are really useful. IF you have any more you can PM that'd be great. Quick question on the last photo where you say you can set it to whatever you want. Can you talk me through how that's done? Our summers normally exceed what the UK deems a heatwave ( ), and we regularly head further south to Italy and Spain, so I'd be keen to get it low. How do you do it? Any reason or advice as to what a lowest limit should be (with regard to over-working the sytem etc). If your system is too effective you’ll suffer from icing up of the evaporator which could temporarily restrict or block the airflow through the ventilation system. Most OE systems will not operate when the ambient is below a pre determined value to prevent this. In a hot climate I would guess it is unlikely to be a problem, but you need to consider whether you’ll want to use the system in cooler weather for demisting. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Thanks Bluest. The problem here is ambient temp can very from -20c up to +35c. Huge variance. I will get a heated windscreen fitted this year, so hopefully usage for demisting is less important than cooling in hot temps. Further I have completely done the insulation, so hopefully it will regulate the cabin a little more efficiently, winter and summer. Will be sensible with the setting Monsieur Le Grenadier

Yes, you can set it as required, that was just a test and we turned it up.
There's a minimum setting which is either law, or a manufacturing standard, but I can't remember what it was. Due to people in hot countries stepping out of their freezing air con car and into instant heat and dying from heat shock. It's basically opposite to why people shouldn't jump into our lakes in the weather we have now.. |

@grenadier, sorry I don't have more photos, but if I can help, I'll try...it was 7-8 years ago when I did it, and I'm old. |

Cheers, Greeni, that's all good. The photos you have help a lot. Now I've just got to wait for the DC to make it back from Palma to get started... Monsieur Le Grenadier

Hi, there was no need for the air con extended nose.
It was a complete kit, everything you needed, I can't remember where it came from to be honest Answering another question, the thermostat is on the side of the evaporator and can just about be seen on the left of it, you can access the control with the door open and reaching from the footwell. |

I've done mine recently. Got the kit from Bearmach but it's engineered by Coolair Logan who also advertise the kit on their website.
So glad I did it now with this weather, it took me 2 days to do the interior work (I'd say 6 hours a day) and then a full 8 hour day on the engine bay. Took it to be dried, leak tested and gassed - all passed with flying colours. I have to say their kit is different to yours - e.g. the radiator goes in front although you still don't need the extended grille and the condenser replaces the power steering reservoir bracket. I can't fault the build quality mind you, and it was very well packaged. Even came with 2 drive belts, one for spare! If it's any help I may have the PDF manual of how to install it, will have to try and dig it out. Now: 2010 2.4 TDCi 110 Utility Wagon Then: 2004 2.5 TD5 90 Hard Top (X-Tech Edition) |

Hi,
I had a AC from Coolair Logan fitted to my Defender Puma 2.4.. When I start the system it work all fine, but as soon as the engine heats up (45min on the highway at 120 km/h) the AC does not manage to cool the temperature off. I even need to down the ventilation as it blows from there on only hot air. Did you experience the same issue with yours ? Ant advice would be most welcome. kind regards |
