Fuse 4 is totally unused, 20A and connected to permanent battery supply 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

It's probably just left there to make it easier to do custom builds. Don't forget Defenders often had specialist conversions done. Everyone from Police forces and Fire services to Utility companies had them, with all sorts of non-standard equipment fitted. So they leave somewhere for the flashing lights, sirens and radios to get their power from.
So long as you fit an appropriate fuse it's safe to use. |
