^^^ But TDi4 you're making the serious and rather mis-informed assumption that Defenders break down on holiday. The last time I went on holiday and broke down in a Defender was well over 14 days ago

If you cross into France, make sure you avoid the D902 between Le Fayet and St Gervais, every day between 0830-0900 and 1800-1930 as that's when I will be commuting to/from work and would rather not be caught behind a caravan (even if towed by a Def) on holiday on a twisty alpine road  Monsieur Le Grenadier

You can have a trip without catastrophic failure!!!!! Last year for the first time in 6 years I had a catastrophic free summer trip to spain. Not counting the time the airco got stuck and it was about 50 degrees in the car, not counting the studs of the turbo comping loose all the time, not counting the window trim making noise all of a sudden  a defender from 1984 pretending to be a puma with a touch of Range Rover |

I remember that if you are driving into Spain you will need 2 warning triangles, one for behind and the other in front of the car.
There was a young man selling them after Collioure and Banyuls-sur-Mer before the Spanish boarder! Cheers Don. |

I think this is the optimal holiday trip
We travel with 4 kids and a caravan about 4000-4500 km every year. a defender from 1984 pretending to be a puma with a touch of Range Rover |

^^^ No longer work for the previous mob, but whilst they don’t have an office here, they do have 40 agents. I’m now more traditionally employed for an agency in Chamonix, hence the commute

you must have been falling over each other!
I was asked if we would take on your previous company’s portfolios in our sector because they couldn’t sell anything. I politely declined. We have 21 people but that’s Toulouse to Aix en Provence and accros 3 offices. Although today i am working from home since the car is broken again! |

I was the second agent in the area, but it’s not too bad as each agent has a valley asigned to them, so very little overlap and if you work hard enough more than enough business, in theory
But in Cham there are 40 competitor agent offices. That’s not a typo, 40 offices for a permanent population of 10k. In the UK that would equate to Andover which might have 5 agencies. . And this doesn’t include the estimated 30-40 on-line agents with access to the Cham market. Throw in a 95% preference by vendors for multiple-agency mandates and numerous agencies now working in partnership, plus representation by big British brands such as Sotheby’s, Savills and Knight Frank, and it is a very, very competitive marketplace. If it followed the UK formula of 95% exclusive mandates I’d say 35 of the agencies would close overnight. Monsieur Le Grenadier
