i guess it would remove the secondary store for transfair box oil, so you could ignore the annual recall.

Apart from the fact it's covered in gear oil. If everything is under control you are not going fast enough.

I converted my dads old trialer s1 gearbox with a disc set up from a dumper and jcb caliper and cable but i also used the over centre style lever fitted to plant, worked very very well held on 45deg no trouble If everything is under control you are not going fast enough.

I certainly would not trust the standard handbrake, in some of the placed the trayback.. with a X brake gets left on some events !!!

Let alone have to clean the dam drum out after every event !!!

A X Brake is most definitely NOT a bodge repair California F1, 75th 110 "Kermit", 50th Ann V8, 90 V8 Hybrid, 55 Series 1

I would have to disagree - although this an old chestnut of an argument.

I once had a similar view until a friend of mine, who happens to own his own LR business and trails/competes etc in a number of LR products educated me.

there are some simple mods (10 secs and free) that should see you never needing to clear out your drum...keep it well adjusted and you will be fine.

As he and a few others pointed out the pads in it are also a service item, just like you would change the drum brakes on a car when required - i bet there isnt anyone on here or other forums that thinks of it as they would the wheel brakes...and yet it is!!so you should service/check and maintain it - its not sealed for life fit and forget! Mike

I had one of the first X Brakes,, and been fitted to every comp vehicle since,, and never worn a pad out !

I also have been educated, and until they can seal a drum brake up, so that it will work, after being deep in water,, i will stick to a better system, of holding the vehicle California F1, 75th 110 "Kermit", 50th Ann V8, 90 V8 Hybrid, 55 Series 1

Like many items there will be proponents for and against items be it batteries/lights/snorkels/protection etc.

We have X brakes fitted to two of our vehicles and it is just a matter of time before one gets fitted to our Puma.

I have found Si at X Eng to give excellent customer service and produces excellent products.

So yes I am a fan of X Eng and the X brake
