I think most cut Dynamat to fit in situ.
Personally I’d leave the door structure alone and you don’t need 100% coverage on the doors anyway. CSK’s site may have some helpful pictures on there maybe. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 Last edited by custom90 on 23rd Jun 2018 3:45pm. Edited 1 time in total |

there's plenty of room to get a 30cm ish panel of sound deadening into the door, without striping down the frame. It's worth buying new water shedders from, as they're tricky to get off without tearing, and they're only about a tenner each from a dealer, complete with pre-applied adhesive.
You don't need to entirely cover any panel with the butyl stuff, (foam is different) although the places that sell you the stuff would obviously prefer to sell you as much as possible.... |

I was going to use some new 1000 Gauge DPM and applying a bead of mastic to attach it as that is basically what was there (actually I guess the plastic is about 600 - 800 Gauge). Should I buy off the shelf product or stick with the DPM. I have also got some 800 Gauge, would it be bettter to stick with that?

Not my current Defender (yet) but on my previous 90 I applied sound deadening (Silent Coat) to the lower parts of the door only, which made a huge difference to their resonance. Like this:

Ok, I got up at 05:00 (could not sleep), the 4 raptors commonly known as my children were still in bed as was the Mrs, so I made a start (I got little carried away) but what a difference!

@mark13 - I found 1000ga PVC a bit thick, but 300ga is just fine with a bit of contact adhesive to hold it in place. £15 buys a lifetime supply of water shedding.
