Defender TD5 non ABS brake issue
I have on 02MY defender 110 with a standard braking system (non ABS). There are 2 pipes from the front of the master cylinder leading to each of the front calipers and one one pipe heading to the rear, splitting at the rear axle, leading to each of the rear calipers, the master cylinder reservoir is split to ensure fluid is available to one circuit if the other one fails
Recently The brake pedal travelled almost to the floor when braking so I pressure bled the system, all seemed ok for a while but the same thing happened again and this time I noticed that when pressing the brake pedal the front section of the master cylinder reservoir was filling up and overflowing into the rear section, I replaced the master cylinder with a non OEM type and all was ok, now the exact same thing is happening again, any ideas? Has the new master cylinder failed or has anyone heard of this happening before? Can you think of another reason causin this?

The only way this can happen is that the front cup is leaking. Did you change the braking fluid? Is there maybe dirt in the system? Roel

Hi Roel, thanks for the reply, system is very clean, but came to the same conclusion as you so contacted the new Master cylinder supplier, they are sending out a replacement seal kit so I will try that, thanks again.
