on the intake manifold there is a 1/8 plug, remove it and insert a threaded barb fitting and take your boost/vacuum from the intake manifold.
Its near the MAP sensor. |

Erm... does a diesel engine generate a significant reduction in pressure below atmospheric?
Unlike in a petrol engine where there is a butterfly throttle valve which restricts air flow into the engine when closed, which in combination with the cylinders sucking air into them can significantly reduce the air pressure in the intake system, a diesel's intake is always fully open so you only have reduced pressure due to the restriction of the turbo and air filter? 2005 Td5 90 XS 1989 V8 110 CSW |

Indeed, there should not be any vacuum registering on the gauge at all. The boost side will work nicely though.

If I may hijack this question, if I wanted to reinstate a boost gauge on my 3.9 EFI RR engine, where do I need to drill and tap for the barb fitting that goes to the gauge?
The old SD1 engine had a fitting at the back of the inlet manifold I think but not sure where I need to install it on this engine....... |
