A great double din option
Hey guys not posted in a while but very happy with my latest project which is a double din system.

I went for the Alpine INE-W710DC which is interesting as it is a double din front but only a single din back (see pics).

Anyway that meant no removing of the metal bracket in the dash, and no bending of plastic ducting. Also lots of room for wires and cables which has been an issue on installs I’ve seen. I also didn’t have to extend any wires for the relocated switches which was a great relief Thumbs Up

Head unit itself seems great, nice screen and very responsive. DAB, built in satnav, CarPlay etc etc...

Thought it might be of interest for those looking for a ‘low-hassle’ double din install. Very happy Very Happy

I guess the built in navigation. Built in nav carries a premium of a few hundred £ over ones with just CarPlay or whatever.

It’s a pretty high spec unit, with the high end touch screen, Etc Cheers, David

Looks great, I'll be doing this install in the next few weeks (Hopefully)
Are you still happy with the stereo?
Can i ask, where did you get your fascia from and was it decent quality?
And have you looked for something to fill the round hole? I find that no-one uses them at all.

Hi,

Yes I absolutely love it - it’s brilliant.

I got the facia off ebay https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=ht...3043247064 - seems to be pretty good quality (no worse than the factory one) and having the vents attached is a hugely useful feature (some require you to cut yours off).

I managed to fit mine without extending any switch wiring too 👍

Regarding the reloaction panel, I think if I were to do it again I would just fit something like this: https://www.mudstuff.co.uk/products/electr...mount.html

Hope that helps Cheers, David

Absolutely, brilliant help.
I have no ABS switch in mine so would have 4 left over to relocate. I can stick in the blank and add a stitch for the rear heated seats. (Kids!!!)
Price of the unit on eBay was no cheaper than the ones from defender upgrades etc.. so will still get one from a proper ‘shop’
What camera did you go for too? Yours has two av inputs does it not?

Anyone used the disco 2 switches in the 3x2 mount on here?
No size on mud website so wondering where they fit on the side nicely.

Looks good Thumbs Up

If the cost of this head unit is £950, have others done this for less (closer to £500 say?)

I have seen:

https://www.mudstuff.co.uk/jvc-double-din-...45dbt.html for £369

https://www.mudstuff.co.uk/puma-double-din-facia-matt-black.html for £265

Are there other costs on top of this £634?
