Hi Thanks for all the advice
My Td5 did have a 3 inch sports exhaust and remap and could go up fairly steep slopes with a trailer on anti stall. I did expect the same on the 2.2. In every other aspect of driving the 2.2 is awesome. Right! It would seem I have a problem. I am going to pull the injectors, check and replace seals. As I cannot do a fault code check on this. Will the MAF and VCV problems show up on a diagnostic check? I have changed the half shafts and there is no residue/staining on the g/box Trans/box lower recess so I dont think the drive train is the problem. Are there any other items I should be looking at. The motors done 37k miles. Due to the circumstances under which I purchased it i have no access to its history apart from a dealer service done at 12k miles. Once again thanks for all the advice its much appreciated. |

MAF could throw up a fault code, but VCV doesn't.

Doing some testing in anti stall mode on the road and farm tracks.
On anti stall in first the rpm is approx 750 On a flat road progress is steady On an incline it tends to surge On a bumpy farm track the surging is more apparant Using the accelerater at 750 - 1000rpm and pressing my boot to the right side bulkhead to steady the pressure on the pedal it is ok on roads but only just controllable on the farm track To sort this problem I am starting at the first input which is the throttle pedal. This is fairly stiff due to the hefty springs which I presume is standard. My one concern is that the pedal has to be depressed 25mm before the engine revs. Is this normal? I am also going to use MAF cleaner spray to see if there is any difference. |

Have you tried the bumpy farm track in low range foggydave?
As I understand it the accelerator pedal mapping input is less sensitive in low range to prevent self induced surging by the drivers right foot bouncing on the pedal on bumpy terrain. Try a higher gear in low range , rather than 1st gear in high and see if it makes any difference. Not a bad thing to shift the transfer box every now and then as it helps stop the linkage getting stiff !! Especially in and out of Diff Lock in my case. |

Yes but only for a short distance and in 1st high and 1st low. As suggested I will try in low range with a higher gear at the weekend.
Apparantly there is a way to congfigure the wiring to fool the ecu that it is in low range with regard to the accelerator sensitivity. |
