About £60 a fortnight to be precise (and I don't do that much driving) Whistle

I believe the restrictors were only on Series 3 stage 1 v8's, maybe some of the early 110's too? At least no 24g engines had restrictors. As far as exhausts go there's always the possibility to change in the future, to cut down on costs I bought a bog standard mild steel Britpart system. 1999 Land Rover Defender 110 td5 station wagon

All good Charcoal.
As another member has said, & I agree, Of late, I've noticed a bit more "interest" in V8s too,..gotta be the way to go!!
On the other hand, what I can't work out is why some people pull out a V8, & drop in a 4 cyl 2.5L diesel? just can't work that one out.
Of course, I am VERY impressed with the relatively small diesel in our Puma, Gracie, but if there had been a V8 option, I definitely would've ticked it!!.......Remember the talk from some during the last year or so of Defender production about how there was going to be a "Last" Defender, built by Special Vehicles, with the S.C. 5L V8???....Of course there was never any truth in it, but what a weapon it would've been!!

I can't quite get my head around that either. You could install lpg tanks for half the cost of a tdi conversion and you'd have economy and street credit! A 5l v8, damn that'd be cool. I'dd never be able to afford a new one let alone a new one with an engine like that anyway Laughing Imagine if the'd fitted something like the TDV8 from factory also? Seems perfect for a Defender. 1999 Land Rover Defender 110 td5 station wagon

LPG isn't such a great option anymore..a lot of garages are phasing LPG out.

I guess so, the nearest one to me is about 15 miles away. My mother lives in the middle of nowhere but she has three within the same distance though! 1999 Land Rover Defender 110 td5 station wagon

Great thread Charcoal!
How are you finding the LT85?
I had mine rebuilt by a supposed "gearbox specialist" two years ago & I reckon it's nearly as noisy now after two years and not many miles as it was before!

Rather noisy, shame as it blocks out the sound of the engine unless you hammer it. Makes some nice crunches every now and then. It'll do until I can get an LT77s sorted out though. Did you get it rebuilt to try and make it quieter? Aren't they meant to be noisy though? 1999 Land Rover Defender 110 td5 station wagon

Hi Jack, I used a proper 90/110 v8 radiator without the oil cooler. I was about 80 quid and I have not had any problems with it Thumbs Up 1999 Land Rover Defender 110 td5 station wagon

The engine was offered into the engine bay in the correct position and then the mounts were welded into position. 1999 Land Rover Defender 110 td5 station wagon
