Hi,
Pulling half shafts is easy. Especially if you have wheels where the drive flanges are exposed. Make sure you put it in diff lock and/or chock the wheels before you remove your half shafts...... Prop is easy- especially so if you have a prop tool (essentially a shallow socket extension)- removing the diff is also pretty easy, although it's bloody heavy and awkward to handle- i tend to use a trolley jack to sit it on to remove or refit. I'd recommend Xcess 4x4 for rebuilding your diff- not used him myself but one a number of folk who have and been very pleased. Chris |

I had a problem with the rear diff making the same noise, it sounded more like the noise you get when the diff starts to wind itself up .The local Indy I use priced up the parts for a re build and the cost of a factory rebuilt diff, it was just over 50% of buying the parts and the garage doing it. Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to ![]() Richard |

the Detroit TruTrack isn't that expensive... just tell the manager that's how much a diff costs

Outlaw - this should be classed as a breakdown and therefore in theory should not have to be referred to the "Finance and Assets Committee". Likewise with a locker as it's classed as an essential modification.

For what it's worth Nige (Xcess4x4) is swamped with stuff at the moment. Highly recommend him though, just might have to be a little patient as he works through his back log (my new front locker is included in that backlog so no queue jumping). Ed

you wont be disappointed with Ashcrofts work,
if fitting yourself without ramps be careful they are heavy and difficult to lift into the axle when your lying on your back under the car. DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS, I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy |
