I’m not an electrical magician but can safely say that it wont work ... however I will stand corrected if proven wrong !
it may be better to look at the later G4 discovery seats as, if my memory serves me correctly, these were a special cool mesh that allowed your back to breath. the other way is to put ice water into a hot water bottle and place it behind you back like a small cushion ... just my thoughts ! I'm fairly sure they are just resistance heaters, having replaced a pad on mine recently. They have a wire snaking through the pad and sit between the foam of the seat and the leather/cloth cover.
Peltier elements appear to be rigid, and I'm not sure you could get any powerful enough and with good enough heat transfer to make a difference. I'm also happy to be corrected and interested to see if you could retro-fit any. Cooled seats that I've had before have involved a cool air duct from the air conditioning system. |

Agreed, Defenders just use conventional heater elements, they'll only heat up regardless of which way you run the polarity.

I don't believe the Defender seats are heated by the peltier effect. I'm sure if they were many of our Antipodean members and dealers would have converted them to cooled seats. Defender 90XS SW

I don't know if they still do it but Exmoor used to do seat cover replacements using a fabric that keeps you cool in summer and warm in winter. The seat heaters are definitely not peltier elements... You could run a liquid system, with a matrix of small bore pipes under the seat fabric, then run these to a cooling block with a pump, peltier module and associated heatsink and fan.. Similar to liquid cooling a computer cpu.. The cooler / fan / pump assembly could be mounted in a box attached to the cubby... And by reversing the polarity of the peltier elements, you keep heated seats in winter!! Should be a simple enough project to get done in a weekend..  ... ,-------,
