Noise killer underbonnet sound proof kit any good?
Hi all

As titled, has anybody used this stick on kit on a td5 on here? Does it make any difference?

Thanks

Mike

I have used Noise Killer products do they work yes, however like all noise suppression products they do not make a Defender noise free they only help to slightly cut down the noise.
I have my whole Defender soundproofed including Wright off-road matting and as they say, every little bit helps but in my opinion just doing the bonnet will not make that much of a difference to the noise levels. For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

That's fine, I don't expect a defender to be quiet but the bonnet has nothing on it at the moment so looking at an easy and realistic improvement as some had underbonnet soundproofing as standard , being a csw it's not too noisy anyway Thumbs Up

I have have had the stick on kit on our TD5 for many years, as gilarion says they only help slightly, but there is a difference. Have had to stick the edges back over the years but had them about 10 years now, so not bad going. Regards
Dennis.

Had for a few years, unimpressed that the edges keep falling away due to adhesive failure. Honestly cant tell much difference noise wise, but ive been adding bits of noise insulation piecemeal over the years, so it probably has added some benefit. The noise killer engine blanket seemed pretty effective, but it is starting to wear through where it meets the rear edge of the TD5 engine cover.

Silentcoat is worth a look too

I've been working with it quite a bit recently and it seems to be really good stuff. Much cheaper than most of the same type too

I have fitted the bonnet kit and the lead blanket thing.

Makes little difference when idling but does seem to make a bit of a difference to the din from the engine whilst driving.
