Side window kits
Hi all

I’m wanting to put some side windows into my 1996 Defender 90 300 tdi van.

Has anyone purchased and fitted a set and can recommend a supplier/provide feedback on the quality and job itself?

Thanks

Did mine myself , got a set off eBay and the sealant , must admit I think I measured the opening about20 times before cutting Wink
If your fitting or got the interior use that as a template ,Mark inside then drill small holes to the outside and just do ,dot to dot. Thumbs Up

I put original windows in the Puma ones, Not much more than aftermarket if you haggle and look good with no fear of being unavailable in the future

I can only give an advice:
Buy OEM parts when you find them!
Far better of any after market!!! Si Vis Pacem Para Bellum

I fitted the Masai fixed windows to my Defender PUMA. Measured it several times and rechecked several times before drilling and then cutting with a jigsaw. Use plenty of masking tape on the outer side panel to prevent the base of the jigsaw from scuffing the paintwork. I bought and used their template which worked fine although I would say it cuts a hole which is perhaps a couple of mm wider than needed and meant I needed to be careful when drilling the holes for the rivets.

Masai have a video on their website and there is also a YouTube Wheeler Dealer video that has some good tips.

One other point, I went for fixed windows from a security perspective however, with the warmer weather now coming, I now realise that sliding windows might have been a better option as I often have the dog with me and the additional through flow of air would be useful. As always, choices to be made!

The Masai template is an utter waste of time and money. It needs to be made of card to be of use as something that big made of paper with a huge hole in the middle has too much play to be any use as a temple.

Save your money or buy a tape measure and a Sharpie instead. Measure 50 times and cut once.

I have the Masai windows which came with the template. Windows were shoddy quality and rattle even though they are single/fixed pane. I would avoid the windows (and the template) and don't make the same mistake as me and cut the hole, fit the windows only to then discover they're rubbish, as there's little chance to send them back unless you like having an open sided van... Phil

Will need to rethink my plans now...

To be balanced, I have had no issues with the windows in terms of rattles!

Hi Scamper,

Are your windows Masai or another aftermarket?

Thanks
