again Steve I can not thank you enough for taking the time to sort me out you have the patience of a saint.. wish I could afford to take it to a garage and get them to sort it... but where is the fun in the..
soooo.. I will try to explain what I have done and see if I understand what I should do. I have spliced in to the reversing light.. taking and + and - feed to power the revering camera run a video lead from the camera to the HU to the camera this all works fine if I select the camera whilst I am in reverse.. HOWEVER to get the camera to automatically I NEED to do is run a cable from the purple wire on the ISO block back to the camera + feed... so would that mean the camera would have two connections to the positive? one from the reversing light.. and one from the ISO connector... |

Not quite as the power source is the switched reverse 12v feed, the camera is powered via this.
Tapping into the feed on the camera just avoids making two connections on the reverse wire. You could connect the purple to the reverse near the front, but obviously you’d damage the wire again and it’s a pig to get to. Personally I’d run to the back, as I suggested tapping into the camera 12v that is triggered from the single live connection you made from the reverse light feed. In a lot of instances it’s not advisable to ‘borrow’ current draw from and existing circuit as this. But in this case you will be okay due to the camera drawing very low current. Think of the reverse light + as the switch, but an electrical one not a manual switch. Basically your only problem is your HU has no way of telling the reverse is activated and the camera. Some auto sense, others don’t but both work equally well. 👍🏻 ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️ |

ohhh my brain... soooo..
all I need to do is.. 1. unplug the (+) feed to the camera from the reversing light (leave the (-)) 2. Run a wire from the HU iso purple wire to the camera + or will that still not detect when its in reverse ahhh I dont want to take up more of you time Steve... you have been great but I will just have to save up and get someone to do it for me |

Leave your +/- camera to the reverse light in situ.
Extend the purple from the HU all the way to the camera + and tap into that. That'll make your camera and HU see + every time reverse is selected, off when not. The - won't need to be changed or tapped into at all. ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️ |
