So my brother and I both bought equipes front bumpers.
They're great. Really like them. But they also position the back edge of the winch too close to the AC condenser, which means you can't fit the fans on the front of it. We were going to make a spacer so that we could project the whole front bumper forwards by say 80-90mm (depth of a fan) when we came across these... Which look good. http://www.euro4x4parts.com/parts/3pc1184-..._80mm.html But can't see how they work, as the brackets aren't stepped, so a standard bumper that would mount to the chassis rail can't then be mounted onto the adaptor. Does anyone know of a spacer bracket on the market that would be for a purpose like fitting air conditioning to a non air conditioning vehicle, or something similar (nearest equivalent purpose of the brackets) Thanks. |

They don’t need to be stepped if they’re same depth as bumper

Interesting, I've never seen these brackets before.
I suppose the would be OK for a normal or 'style and looks only' bumper. I wouldn't want to be using a winch held on by them. |

I had a chat with raptor 4x4 earlier who make them and explained the problem, they've sent through some photos so once they say it's ok to upload them I'll pop them up.
Basically the bumper ends up offset vs where the original height would be to take account of that drawing I posted up there, it doesn't go in line at the same height. It looks strong enough, as strong as the fasteners are anyhow, admittedly you're adding in a second joint into the system but if one joints capable (the winch bumper to the chassis) so should be the second if it's the same fastener sizing and clamp load. I'll bung the photos up anyway. We plan to buy a couple of them at the right spacing to get the air con fans back in again and see how it goes. |

Yes.... Kind of the point. I don't want something that changes the height of the bumper, I wanted something with a step in it to maintain the height and not have to recut all the grille.
Or more accurately, not have to buy a new grille as the forward movement is greater than the upwards so the cut line drops down. Which you obviously can't do. |

I was thinking about the bit between the 2 sets of fasteners. The chassis and a winch bumper are both strong enough to resist twisting when joined to each other. The bit that's joining them together here is 2 flat plates - with spacer tubes. In a direct straight pull its the plates are under tension and would probably be ok. If the pull was directed up or down it might bend or buckle the plates between the 2 sets of bolts, leaving the bumper permanently pointing that way. |
