New Merc Pick Up
I saw this last week at a local garage. Had no idea what it was, just immediately thought that I knew VW did a pick up, not Merc. Apparently I had spotted a concept. Quite a beast and actually a modern pick up I'd consider if they ever release it. Thumbs Up

They had these out in Meribel in Febuary, unfortunatley the finished product is not so aggressive (even a little weak looking).. The VW still gets my vote.

It's basically a rebadged Nissan Navara with a Mercedes re-trim to the cab. Defender 90XS SW

I saw it in a garage at the bottom of the run to Flaine, a local road well known for car journos and bikers. Didn't look too hard to see if it had crashed or broken down. Still like it though. Monsieur Le Grenadier

Sat in it at the Geneva motor show. 3 liter Diesel, and apparently made in Spain. Not bad overall, pretty spacious, correctly priced. But not really the usual Merc quality.

Oh, Off Topic and then there was the revisited G class at Mercedes. As much as I loved the looks of the outgoing G class, the new one is a total misser in my opinion. Both interior and exterior design are a bridge too far for me.

You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

Won't stop it selling like hot cakes to Rappers and Footballers who no doubt have considerably less taste than you Eric. Very Happy Monsieur Le Grenadier

If your builder arrived in a merc pickup - what would you think?

(Eric would rather have a jeep Wink )

"... rebadged Navara with a Renault Diesel engine!!"

Yeah, the real poseurs are waiting for the Mercedes V6 with permanent 4WD. In the meantime they're snapping up the V6 Amarok...

... or Defenders, of course.

I suffered the rattles in a Mercedes A Class for 18 months. Great to drive, but rattle, buzz & squeak.
Never again - make LR build quality look good.

It was at the geneva show,

Its a nissan nirvada inside, cheap thick plastic. Basic will cost I guess around £30k and with mercedes options before you know it with a radio and mats it will be £45K

a lot of money to chuck your cement and wheelbarrow in

I do like the VW version mind Smile

Merc quality is variable at best - not surprising given the volume & where some of the models are made; combined with the fact that many of them buy interior trim sections from the same pool of suppliers. Badge engineering at it's worst.

It’s as nice as a Saab 9-7x. Or should i have said as hideous? Rolling with laughter a defender from 1984 pretending to be a puma with a touch of Range Rover
