Had to google Traffolyte.
No prizes for guessing I'll be absolutely no help whatsoever. |

Do you need to do it yourself or are you willing to farm it out? If you can source some samples I have a friend with an 8x4 laser cutter that might be able to help out. Ed

I suspect many thousands of engineers and production workers have seen these signs around their sites and fitted to all manner of machinery but never new they were called Traffolyte. Defender 90XS SW

Looks like it would normally be done on a CNC engraver, but you might get away with doing it on low power engrave settings on a laser cutter, with a few passes to get the line width right.
Laser cutters aren't cheap, but if you can do the drawings I've used several companies local to me to do laser cutting, probably be some near you? |

To answer some of the points.
I was thinking of doing the replacements myself depending on cost. I know of several local firms that could do the job in hand but there may be more to come in the future. Traffolyte posh name for multi coloured layers of plastic that used to be produced by I.C.I. . Don't make old people mad. There are H&S concerns from the dust created from phenolic resins and thermosetting polymers so please factor that in if you are going to make yourself.
Engraving companies should be aware of it and control the dust extraction. 1995 Defender 110 CSW 1971 SIIA Lightweight |

Surely this is a really good excuse to buy a new 3D printer?

Ramsay...........In the workshop back in 1970 we had up to 10 of the old school engraving machines running at one time, we soon knew if someone had forgotten to switch on the dust extractors, even with them running we had to use dust masks .
Legin....... That would be a brand new machine when I last used one. AMBxx and Grafty99 .............3D printer . Now that's something I had not thought about as I have very little if not no knowledge of this type of tech . Can they lay down different colours and leave gaps to form letters?
