Hi Adam
Thanks for your message, I will try and get some pictures in the sunshine around Cornwall next time I get the opportunity. Dave did about 250 miles in his ownership so I can happily say that she is how being used as a daily. I have put nearly 1,000 miles on her in the past 2 weeks. I read through your entire build thread and can relate to your comments about Defenders, its 100% sacrifice, love the way it looks, not so sure about the way it drives. I did however fully expect it as I had driven my fathers in the past. One thing that is noticeable, that I would be interested in you commenting on, is the gearbox / gear change. It is quite noticeable that there is a slight notchiness /clunk when the gears engage. You can feel it a little through the gearstick and it is also slightly audible. From what I have read its because the engine and gearbox don't suit each other that well however I would be interested to know your thoughts on it? Also I have ended up insuring with A Plan and they have listed all of the mods however I doubt I would get anywhere near my money back if it got stolen or was involved in an accident. Do you know any insurance companies that do an agreed valuation on Defenders? One last question, do you know what PSI I should be running front and back, I have found lost of different suggestions and can't find a conclusive answer? Regards Luke |

Hi Luke,
I’ve not driven a Land Rover that doesn’t have notchy gears so I just assume it’s normal really. I also used A Plan but might be worth ringing the 4wd specialists in the back of the two main Land Rover mags. Re the tyre pressures I’d run them at about 25-28 depending on the comfort you want. Need to find a good auto spark as I am not good with things like that. |
