interesting question, down to feel I guess. I have a disco transfer and I am happiest at 100 to 110 kph any faster and you can feel the wind resistance/drag and engine working a little harder. No map

Hmmm my TD5 110 DCPU on a motorway.... Now then. 70 foot to the floor - go up a hill and you are at 60 before you know it. More responsive since EGR kit fitted. Hoping for ALIVE remap to get it more comfy sitting at 70. Quieter and easier since FORTE treatment and with 2 stroke or Millers add ins. Comfiest just now at around 55-60mph. And to be honest, if you are in huge hurry, you shouldn't be driving a Defender anyway! 2001 TD5 110 DCPU in Bonatti Grey |

Ditto mine was happiest between 55 & 60 MPH
I find driving a Defender relaxing because you can't rush but in anything with oomph I used to work at it all the way through a long journey as though I was in a Grand Prix of something and was knackered and hyped up at the end of it. I could and did drive the defedner all day and still be as fresh as a daisy |

Above 55mph but below 60mph gives me the best MPG results, had 4 tanks in a row above 32 MPG when i was running empty for a hour each way to work for 3 weeks, mostly main roads but no motorways.

I'd suggest the best mpg will be the slowest speed you feel you can get away with. I've just started another post (500 is possible) where I've I mention that I've got 500 + miles out of 1 tank full.
