We were reasonably persistent but apparently because they knew of the pothole and it was to be repaired within their, I think 48 hour repair window (which it was ) then we had no way of claiming
 we didn't go as far a solicitors as it was cheaper for us to repair it ourselves than appoint one. Ray

Paul McCartan, Winterton's town mayor, has served the council with a section 56 notice under the Highways Act 1980 for three roads - the A1077, the A15 between the M180 and the Humber Bridge and Ermine Street, between the A1077 and Appleby. This requires the local authority to confirm it owns and maintains the roads in question. From this point, the council then has six months to sort the issues or face being taken to court." and the response: "And council leader Rob Waltham said the roads detailed in the legal notice would be fixed by next week."  |

They've started using one of these around our way, time will only tell how long the repair lasts.

pretty h*llish around here too - up to Skye, across to Ullapool, down the A82 to Fort William - in fact every which way you go, there are huge holes in the road. As has been said, the number of folk you can see deliberately weaving about the carriageway is ridiculous.
is there a funny side...?
