The back end of the old bus is looking a bit tired now it's seven years old so I thought I'd spruce it up a bit next time the weather allows and spray the cross member in black. What do the black bolts do, can I take them out? The silver bolts are to bolt the cabin to the chassis, if I take them all out can I get a bit of room between the cross member and the cabin for spraying somehow?
Second question, how difficult is it to spray from an aerosol? I know not to do it in the cold, hot or direct sunlight and to prepare the surface but how hard is it to get a reasonable result? I watch Edd China spray up cars with an aerosol and they look fab but I suspect there's some TV trickery going on. Advice much appreciated. Click image to enlarge |

The black bolts secure the mounts for the rearmost seat belts. Have a look up underneath the wing to see the large lump of steel that they secure. Darren

Hi Pal I did my puma cross member with a can spray (think LR forgot to paint mine) looks good but mask it off everywhere you dont want it to go I know it sounds obvious but it will find the smallest gap in the masking.

Bolts can go out, I used nice black metallic can spray on mine last fall (car was 7 years old as well):
