Magical box....
Hi people,
This is my first attempt to post with a picture...
Looking for a bit of advice.
Currently stripping out the rear quadtech body of my 2011 130 single cab. Can anyone confirm what this box is? I am hoping it's the alarm?

depending on who built it and who ran it , it will contain all the rear body power and lighting fuses plus it sometimes has the speed limiter, tracker, phone kit, radio kit, hands free kit ,reversing camera, work lights flashing beacons, night heater, water heater and anything else run thru it.

sometimes the speed limter is near the ecu or under the seat or even wired in.

Thanks for the reply.
It was an ex western power. With a stevens box.
This what's puzzling me. I have already removed
Diesel heater and wiring
Hand wash and wiring
Beacons
Work lights
Etc.
Everything in the quadtech box is out.
None of the above had any wires going to this box....

Just had another look it seems the wiring exits towards the gear box and carries on into the engine bay.
Does anyone have a picture of the alarm imob wiring so I can rule that out?

yep i have a 130 dc with a similar set up. i know some of them had lap top power and aerials plus in cab invertors pus the winch has a load limiter for lifting and pulling plus a cut off on the wing that feeds back to the dash.

yours may have the key off button that allows keys out and engine running until you touh a pedal etc

Thanks
I can't find a hand throttle or button to let the engine run with the keys out.
It only had a 700w inverter in the back which was wired directly to the second battery. The split charge system doesn't go into the box either.
Found some old monitor, Arial cables

But these do not go to the box either. They go direct to battery.
I guess it could be part of the load limiter you mention for the winch. But the winch wiring appears to go from the battery to a rotary switch thing and then on to the winch...

Also am I missing a gearbox mount that should be here?

Yep puma doesn't use that mount.

Mine has same leads for a computer in the rear as well.

If you look near the base or drivers side of the column there maybe a little black button, ejector seat possibly but usually push for 10secs and then remove key and engine stays running.

It's been in all the western power ones I've seen.doesn't always work though.

The 'monitor' cables will be for some sort of comms. The D connector is probably power etc and link from a control box to a dash head, with the antenna and data connection for a computer.

The stuff under the seat looks like high voltage stuff to me. I expect the inverter would have come from the battery, then the outputs went through this box under the seat to supply everything else.

Have you got in contact with Western Power and asked where their vehicle workshops are? Someone there can probably give definitive answers.

Thank you for all the replies. I am relieved about the gearbox mount not being used on the puma. It's weird because it looks like a bolt would line up perfectly.
I will have a good look for this button for removing the keys.
Unfortunately I have discovered some rust to the bulkhead. Unbelievable on a 61 plate. Quite disappointed. Looks like I will have to take the dash out to investigate. I think water is getting in under the windscreen bulkhead seal. Looks like the gasket was caught during assembly.

Not really that unbelievable on a 7 year old Defender, it's still basically a 1950's bulkhead. But it would be unbelievable on any other 61 plate car.

I suspect the gearbox mount may have been for some sort of temporary alignment during assembly, but none of them have anything fitted there.

Try some of this on the leaking screen. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Captain-Tolleys-C...B003T6EJ9A

But if it comes to it you can remove the windscreen frame without removing the dash, just need to slide the headlining back.

Thanks for all the advice and help.
I have found the little black button you mentioned. Very stealthy - I would never have known it was there. Gutted I couldn't test it as the cold snap has killed the battery.
Thanks for the sealer tip. I am going to try and take the side trim of the dash and inspect first.
