Defender Trail-Air System (the TPMS and Reversing Camera)
Has anyone on here fitted the Land Rover Trail-Air system to their Defender yet?

My initial instinct was great , an official LR solution , then I looked at the website £650 for the kit , MMmmm it is really on the hitching camera I am interested in .... The labour isn't to bad at 1.5 hours but then I noticed the bit about this not including the fitment of the devices to your wheels either on the trailer or the vehicle without which you have a very expensive hitch camera.

Would be great to hear from someone that has had the whole job done as I have not scrapped the idea all together yet.

Thanks

I notice the following on the FAQ page:-

21. Is the system suitable for use with my vehicle?

We have designed the system to work with leading towing vehicles as well as Land Rovers. The system is not compatible with vehicles with metal bumpers. For suitability for your vehicle please contact our technical team for assistance on 0845 676 9774.

Does this suggest that it won't work with a Defender?

Looks a neat system though, I think I want one!

If you go onto the buy it now screen to fit yourself, you will see 3 pictures showing the mount on the defender. It is a plastic triangular mount fitted to the top of the LR hitch plate. It does look a good system although very expensive for what is essentially a rear view camera and tyre pressure monitor. As to reversing cameras this company does a similar system for £100. Although to be fair the LR system would be a better and smarter integrated sytem Thumbs Up

For reversing cameras some of the stuff being fitted to mobile cranes these days are truely fantastic, infra red night vision, headlight anti glare, ect ect
Look at any commercial vehicle suppler the screens can be used for sat nav and entertainment as well, If everything is under control you are not going fast enough.

It didn't show yesterday, thank you UPS, but I'll let you know when I receive it.

I'm looking forward to being able to mount the mirror to the windscreen, as well as have the Electrochomatic (auto-dimming), reversing camera and TPMS.

It maybe an expensive solution, but I prefer the properly integrated nature of it.

Will let you know how it goes.....
