Can anyone recommend a good, reasonable tacho supplier/installer anywhere near Oxford? The only place I know locally want stupid money for it, so need recommendations.

Any VOSA approved tachograph installer or calibration workshop can do it and most suppliers of new trucks will have this facility but from early 2006 any tachograph fitted will have to be of the digital type and not the older chart style. It will have to have a calibration certificate and be sealed with a lead VOSA mark at each end to avoid tampering. The digi type needs a bit of training and good P.C. skills to be able to use the downloading of driving time. It will also require you to obtain a Digi-card from the DVLA. Siemens seem to be on top of the tree in Digital systems but i dont think you would seem much change out of £900. Once you have your Digi-card you must have it with you when you are in your vehicle as it is an offence to drive without it.
The country that invented the Tachograph (Germany) ditched it as it was holding industry up too much but instead trusted their hauliers to keep written records of rest and break times... I would avoid at ALL cost!! 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS.. |

Yes I have been in touch with then, they gave me a quite, then nearly tripled the price saying it was a very difficult job to fit one in a Defender. 2011 110 USW 1973 Series III 1-Ton 1972 Series III 1-Ton Cherrypicker 1969 IIA 1-Ton 1966 IIA 88" |

Yeah I'm aware of the regs, and I can't not have a tacho considering what I intend to do with the vehicle. 2011 110 USW 1973 Series III 1-Ton 1972 Series III 1-Ton Cherrypicker 1969 IIA 1-Ton 1966 IIA 88" |

Triple that and you're getting towards what Mudie-Bond now claim it will cost to have one fitted. Funny how they said it was about 900 quid when I went in and asked... 2011 110 USW 1973 Series III 1-Ton 1972 Series III 1-Ton Cherrypicker 1969 IIA 1-Ton 1966 IIA 88" |
