Centre Console Illumination Blowing Fuse
Can anyone offer some practical advice in tracing this fault. The dash centre console illumination is routinely blowing its 10a fuse. It will work for a time before the fuse blows. Possibly triggered by a bumpy road. I’m assume this must be caused by an exposed conductor somewhere in that circuit.

Trouble is, I’ve had the console out looked at and wiggled all the wires to avail. Can anyone offer any practical advice in tracing the fault, bearing in mind there must be 20ish individual switches and bulbs illuminated on this circuit? I’m tearing my hair out. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

10a seems like a lot for a few tiny bulbs, are you sure the circuit isn't shared with something else?

I haven't got a diagram to hand right now, but maybe someone else can clarify. Now: 2010 2.4 TDCi 110 Utility Wagon

I’ll have to check. Think I’ve got a wiring diagram somewhere. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Ok, the one other thing on that circuit are the head lamp leveling motors. I know one of those doesn't work. Could that be causing the intermittent fuse blowing?

I've had the dash panel out again today to find any damaged wires, I've pulled tugged and wiggled every cable and can't cause the fuse to blow. It all look ok. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Yes I'd say it's more likely those. After all they and their wiring and connectors are exposed to the elements and one isn't working (could be jammed).

Each time you turn on the ignition (regardless of whether the lights are on or not) power is fed through the switch to keep the lights in that position. If you disconnected the switch the lights fall to their lowest position as that is their fail safe.

I'd get that looked at, the motor or mechanism could be jammed and could cause the motor to blow the fuse. Now: 2010 2.4 TDCi 110 Utility Wagon

Replaced the faulty levelling motor. Now to see if the fuse continues to blow... 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS
